Massage therapists, physiotherapists and other bodyworkers often enter these professions because they love helping people. And that part of it is great!

But the reality is that running a practice can bring exhaustion, financial strain or the feeling of being stuck doing meaningless tasks instead of the “real work” with clients. Many practitioners end up carrying the weight of marketing, admin and client communications that they were never trained for… while their bodies experience wear and tear from the hands-on work.

That’s where The Health Leader Co. comes in.

Their mission is to help therapists “love their practice.” And what makes them unique is that its founders each bring their own expertise to the table to help therapists succeed.

Elicia Crook understands the realities of growing and running a busy clinic. Christine Knox is passionate about teaching techniques that protect the therapist and get breakthrough results for clients. And James Crook brings the marketing and digital strategy skills that help practitioners grow with confidence.

As a team they have decades of experience providing business mentoring, advanced training and inspiration so that therapists can thrive.

Elicia Crook: From the “Treatments Trap” to Mastery

Elicia Crook is a massage therapist and knows firsthand how easy it is to get stuck in what she calls the “treatments trap,” where income relies on being in the treatment room. Early in her career, she faced the same struggles many practitioners do: spotty bookings, inconsistent income and no clarity on how to fix it.

It took years of persistence and some big learnings along the way but Elicia eventually grew her practice into a thriving clinic with nine staff and three treatment rooms, seeing over 100 clients each week. She discovered the freedom that comes with building strong systems, a confident team and sustainable business practices. But she also discovered something else: her real passion was in helping other therapists achieve the same transformation.

That’s why she created Health Leader Mastery, a 12-month mentoring program designed for therapists who want to move beyond one-to-one treatments and step into new opportunities. Whether it’s hiring team members, launching group programs or creating online courses – Mastery gives practitioners the roadmap, support and community to expand their impact while reclaiming their time and energy.

Christine Knox: Gentle Techniques, Lasting Results

Christine Knox brings her own unique expertise to the community as both a lead business coach and the trainer behind two pioneering modalities: Gentle Scar Therapy and Remedial Hot Stones.

Christine’s passion is simple but powerful – she wants to see therapists stay in the industry long term. Too many talented practitioners burn out because their work takes a physical toll. So Christine teaches techniques that are gentler on the therapist’s body while producing exceptional results for clients.

Her breadth of experience in massage and bodywork worldwide gives her a unique opportunity to blend advanced clinical skills with practical wisdom. Through her programs, practitioners gain new ways to help clients at the same time as sustain their own passion.

James Crook: Marketing Made Simple

The third member of the coaching team is James Crook, a marketer, speaker, author and business mentor. James specialises in helping manual therapists simplify their marketing so they can attract more clients without stress or confusion.

With a background in training, technology and communication, James takes the confusion out of marketing and puts it into clear, practical steps. He shows practitioners the tools to grow a business with confidence.

James’ role complements Elicia’s and Christine’s perfectly – where they focus on clinical excellence and business foundations, he equips therapists with the marketing engine to keep their practices full.
